About this tool
Encoded URLs are hard to read. This tool reverses percent-encoding so you can see exactly what a link points to, or recover the original value of a query parameter.
When to use it: reading logs, analytics and shared links to see the real values behind % codes.
Frequently asked questions
What does %20 mean?
Each percent code represents one character — %20 is a space, %3F is a question mark, %26 is an ampersand, and so on.
Why do I see pairs like %C3%A9?
Non-ASCII characters are stored as UTF-8 bytes, and each byte is percent-encoded. %C3%A9 decodes back to é.
Can I decode a complete link?
Yes — paste the whole URL and every encoded sequence in it is decoded, including all parameters.
What happens with broken sequences like %ZZ?
Invalid codes cannot be decoded and are left as-is or shown as a replacement character — usually a sign the string was cut off or corrupted.
Is decoding the same as un-shortening a link?
No. Decoding only reverses percent-encoding; it does not follow short links or redirects.
When is decoding useful?
When reading analytics, server logs or shared links and you want to see the real search terms and values behind the codes.
