Favicon Generator

Generate a complete favicon set from a single image: 16, 32, 48, 64, 180, 192, 256 and 512 pixel versions named for browsers, Apple devices and Android home screens. Download everything as a ZIP or grab individual files, and copy the ready-made HTML tags for your site.

All icons are generated in your browser. Your image is never uploaded to a server.

How to use Favicon Generator

  1. Drop a square PNG or JPG into the box — 512 × 512 or larger gives the sharpest results.
  2. Review the generated previews for every size.
  3. Download the whole set as a ZIP, or save individual files.
  4. Copy the HTML snippet and paste it inside the <head> of your website.

About this tool

A favicon is the tiny icon shown in browser tabs, bookmarks, phone home screens and app install prompts. Each of those places expects a specific size and filename, and missing one of them makes your site look unfinished.

This tool resizes your image into the full standard set — from the 16-pixel browser-tab icon to the 512-pixel icon used by Android install prompts — and gives you the exact HTML lines that reference them.

Frequently asked questions

Which sizes do I actually need?
At minimum: 16 and 32 px for browser tabs, 180 px for Apple home screens, and 192 px for Android. The full set this tool generates also covers older browsers, Windows tiles and install prompts, so nothing is missing.
What image works best?
A square PNG at least 512 × 512 pixels with a transparent background. Simple, bold shapes stay readable when scaled down to 16 pixels; fine detail disappears.
Where do I put the files?
Upload the ZIP contents to the root folder of your website (the same place as your index page), then paste the copied HTML tags into the <head> section of your pages or template.
Why is there an apple-touch-icon?
When someone saves your website to their iPhone or iPad home screen, iOS looks for apple-touch-icon.png and uses it as the app-like icon. Without it, iOS falls back to a screenshot of your page.
Do the icons keep transparency?
Yes. Output is PNG, so transparent areas stay transparent. Browsers may add a background on some platforms, but the file itself is untouched.
