Barcode Generator

Generate barcodes in all the popular formats: CODE 128 for labels and inventory, EAN-13 and UPC for retail products, CODE 39, ITF-14, Codabar and more. Type your value, choose the format, and download a crisp PNG image — useful for inventory tags, asset labels, event tickets and school projects.

Barcodes are generated in your browser. Nothing you type is stored or transmitted.

How to use Barcode Generator

  1. Type the text or number to encode.
  2. Choose a barcode format — CODE 128 accepts almost anything.
  3. Press “Generate” to preview the barcode.
  4. Download it as a PNG image for printing or labeling.

About this tool

Barcodes are everywhere — retail shelves, warehouse bins, library books and event tickets — but creating one usually requires paid label software.

This tool draws standards-compliant barcodes as vector graphics in your browser, then exports a high-resolution PNG you can print at any size.

Frequently asked questions

Which format should I choose?
CODE 128 works with any letters and numbers and is the safest default for labels and inventory. Use EAN-13 or UPC for retail products, CODE 39 for simple industrial labels, and ITF-14 for shipping cartons.
Why does it say my value is invalid?
Each format has strict rules: EAN-13 needs 12 digits (the 13th check digit is added automatically), UPC needs 11 digits, and CODE 39 only accepts uppercase letters, digits and a few symbols. The error message explains what the format expects.
Can I scan the barcode with a phone?
Yes. The generated barcodes follow the official standards, so phone cameras and barcode scanners read them normally.
Is the PNG good enough for printing?
Yes. The barcode is rendered at high resolution with quiet zones (the white margins scanners require), so it prints sharply on standard label printers.
Are these valid retail barcodes?
The barcode image is technically correct, but selling products in major retail chains also requires registering your company prefix with GS1. For internal use, personal projects and small shops, these work perfectly.
